Your motorcycle lessons in Nyon

Feel at home. On two wheels.

From setting off to taking corners, we’ll build the right foundations. Practical exercises, clear advice and a relaxed atmosphere to help you feel confident on your bike.

What we’ll work on together

  • Get comfortable with your bike

Riding position, balance, setting off and slow-speed manoeuvres. Get a feel for your bike and learn to stay in control.

  • Look ahead and brake smoothly

Where to look, how much space to leave and how to control your braking. Build the habits that help you respond safely in traffic.

  • Find your line

Cornering, road positioning and choosing the right speed. Develop a smoother riding style while staying alert and thinking ahead.

Official SAN Vaud information (in French)
Do I need a learner permit?

You’ll need a valid learner permit for the motorcycle category you’re training for. A car driving licence alone isn’t enough to start motorcycle training.

The minimum age is 16 for category A1 motorcycles up to 125 cc and 11 kW, and 18 for category A restricted to 35 kW. At 15, A1 is limited to light motorcycles with a maximum speed of 45 km/h.

What should I bring?

Your learner permit and a motorcycle or scooter suitable for your category, in good condition and displaying an “L” plate.

Bring full motorcycle protective gear: an approved helmet, gloves, a riding jacket and trousers, and motorcycle footwear. If you’re unsure about your bike, equipment or where we’re meeting, check with me before you come.

What if I already have a driving licence?

Already have a category B car licence? To obtain A1, complete the 12-hour IPB course, then ask SAN to add the subcategory to your licence. No A1 practical test is required in this case.

Already have a motorcycle licence or completed part of the training? Message me before booking — how much training you need depends on the licences and training you already have.

How long does the training stay valid?

The full 12-hour IPB course has no expiry date. Once you’ve completed it, you don’t need to repeat it.

Your learner permit still has its own expiry date. And basic training doesn’t replace the practical test when one is required.
